Our Waso instructors will help dress you in a traditional kimono. After you finish getting dressed, we will help you to take pictures and videos. You are also welcome to take part in other art forms while wearing your kimono.
By wearing a kimono while taking part in our Batto or Sado classes, you can truly get a feel and experience traditional Japanese culture.
- Shodo (Japanese Calligraphy)
Japanese Calligraphy is not only about writing with a brush. You will need to relaxed and focused with each strokes. It will be a great joy to create your own art work and to feel refreshed after the session!
You will receive an explanation about the postures and the proper way use the brushes. After warming up, you can practice the brush strokes and flicks used in the art form and choose a word to write in “Kanji” (Japanese characters).
Afterwards, you will have an opportunity to write the word on a card and seal it with a “Rakkan” stamp. This makes the perfect souvenir to treasure your memories of Japan and HiSUi TOKYO.
- Sado (Tea Ceremony)
Tea Ceremony used to be an important social skills for samurai. Tea Ceremony Masters taught samurai “Zen” mind to them. In the tea room, caring each other, facing to yourself, appreciating the nature and lives are the important points. You will be able to enjoy a quiet and fulfilling time.
After entering the tea room through the “Nijiriguchi” (a small entrance to the tea room), guests will receive a lecture about the tea room decorations, watch a tea ceremony and learn about proper etiquette while enjoying Japanese sweets and matcha tea.
All our Sado Masters are certified specialists and will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.
- Batto (Samurai Swordsmanship)
Our qualified swordsmanship Masters will demonstrate the art of “Shizan” or trial cutting. This plan is not for just wearing costumes and hold a pose to take pictures. You will be able to learn the proper forms and techniques to use a real live katana sword. You can also choose to wear a “Hakama” (training wear for Japanese martial arts) during the lesson.
